FRESH PRODUCE’d Los Angeles has selected scenes from Melisa’s full-length play Sad-Eyed Serenity to be a part of their July 2014 monthly workshop.

Scenes from Act II of Sad-Eyed Serenity take place 10 years after Serenity’s fling with hot-headed Liam (then a young man on probation, but working his way up in the world as furry Muppet Elmo in Times Square). The free-spirited, yet alcoholic Serenity tries to reconcile her past mistakes by reconnecting with the young daughter she abandoned. However, getting her daughter back into her life may be more complicated than she imagined. First, she has to get past her sister Margo, who raised the child in Serenity’s absence.
